The catalogue for the Arqana Summer Sale, slated for June 30-July 1, is now online. There are 593 lots total set to go through the ring at Deauville, with 81 Flat-bred 2-year-olds set to breeze at Deauville-La Touques Racecouse on June 29 beginning at 1 p.m. Those juveniles are first through the ring at 11 a.m. on June 30, with 156 2- and 3-year-old stores and 23 3-year-olds in training from the Ecurie Centrale dispersal set to follow later that day. On July 1, the breeding portion of the sale kicks off at 10 am. with 127 fillies and mares and one stallion. Another 206 horses-in-training will close the sale. There will be numerous slots available for wild card entries.
Past graduates of the sale include G1 Queen Anne S. winner Lord Glitters (Fr) (Whipper), and Wadyhatta (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), carrying G1 Irish Derby hero Santiago (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}) in utero, as well as Group 1-winning chaser Greaneteen (Fr) (Great Pretender {Ire}) and G1 Aintree Hurdle scorer Abacadabras (Fr) (Davidoff {Ger}).
Some of the lots of interest include: an Exceed And Excel (Aus) half-brother to MGSW Elysea's World (Ire) (Champs Elysees {GB}) (lot 18); lot 338, Nette Rousse (Ger) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), a half-sister to MG1SW Pakistan Star (Ger) (Shamardal) in foal to Le Havre (Ire); also in foal to Le Havre (Ire) is listed winner Saiga (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) (lot 356B) who is out of Grade I winner Vorda (Fr) (Orpen); lot 501, Got Bright (Fr) (Intello {Ger}), a half-brother to Dabirsim (Fr) (Hat Trick {Jpn}) rated 93; and Listed Prix Isonomy winner and G3 Prix Daphnis runner-up Tammani (GB) (Make Believe {GB}) (lot 512).
In 2020 during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, 153 sold of 198 offered (77.3%) for a gross of €2,894,000. The average was €18,915 and the median was €9,000. Topping the sale at €246,000 was a gelding sold as lot 158 named Gentilhomme (Fr) by Poliglote (GB).
